My regular curly hair routine is a lengthy process that often costs money. Lately, some of the most high-profile brands are charging around $25 per item. In my opinion, spending nearly $25 per product just doesn’t feel worth it for me, or my wallet. From a thorough shampoo to drying my curls, it usually takes me about 12 total steps for my hair to be done for the day. So, if I were to spend an average of $25 per step, it would be about $300 for all of my hair care products.
Recently, I found out that KISS Colors & Care—a brand that develops products for textured hair—has almost every hair care item I need at Walmart, with all items priced at $15 or less. And that includes the brand’s latest drop, the KISS Colors & Care Edge Fixer Extreme Hold Hair Gel. It’s a strong-hold gel that aims to keep edges in place for up to 24 hours without dehydrating curls and coils. Plus, there are two scent options: Sweet Peach and Fragrance-Free.
In an attempt to build my curly hair routine for under $300, here are all the KISS Colors & Care products I’d add to my Walmart online cart, or pick up in store. Spoiler: the total of this list is under $75.

10 KISS Colors & Care Hair Care Picks from Walmart
The first step of my curly hair routine happens in the shower. As I rinse out my conditioner, I usually detangle my curls with an in-shower brush. So, the 9-Row Detangling Hair Brush would be the product I’d add to my cart first. Its bristles would be able to glide through, without ripping any hair out. And, it has a comfort grip handle to keep the brush in my hand as I detangle. Plus, the brush head comes off, so I can easily clean it between uses.
After washing and conditioning my hair, I nourish my scalp with hair oil. So, Scalp Fixer is the next styling product I reach for. It has essential oils and extracts—like Camellia Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Lavender Extract, and Peppermint Oil—to keep my scalp comfortably itch-free as it helps promote healthy hair growth. Best of all, it can even calm the itchiness that comes with a fresh set of knotless braids—a style I like to rock from time-to-time.
While I do love a protective style, more often than not, I prefer to style my natural curls. So, the next couple of steps in my regular curly hair routine involve using a leave-in conditioner and a hair mousse. Then, I’d go in with a gel to define my style.
That means, the Twist Curl Hair Gel is also going in my Walmart shopping cart. It’s a lightweight, hydrating gel that offers a nurturing ingredient blend, including Organic Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Olive Oil, and Biotin B7.
After all of the products are in, it’s time to diffuse my curls with a hair dryer—like the KISS 1875 Watt Pro Tourmaline Ceramic Styling Edition Hair Dryer. Once my hair is about 80% dry, I define my center part before completing the diffusing process. That’s where the Carbon Fiber Pin Tail Hair Comb comes in. It can deliver a precise part that won’t disrupt my curls. Also, it’s a handy tool to use to help me remove my seasonal knotless braids.
Since the top of my hair tends to be less voluminous after a fresh wash, I use a pic to lift the hair a little bit around the crown of my head for more volume without pulling my curls apart. That’s why the Afro Styling Pik is definitely going in my Walmart shopping cart.
The last step in my curly hair routine is laying my edges. Now, I don’t usually swoop my edges over my forehead. Instead, I use an edge brush and edge gel to blend my baby hairs with the roots of my hairline. Since I have sensitive skin, I’d pair the KISS Colors & Care 4-in-1 Edge Styler Hair Brush with the fragrance-free version of the Edge Fixer Extreme Hold Hair Gel.
Once the styling portion of my curly hair routine is done, I carefully clip my hair back, with something like the Spring-Loaded Plastic Hair Styling Alligator Clips, before going through my skincare and makeup routine.
At the end of the day, I don’t want all of my styling efforts to go to waste. That’s why I wrap my hair in a scarf and bonnet. I use the scarf like an incredibly oversized hair tie to collect my ends (and keep them in place while I toss-and-turn in my sleep). Then, I put the bonnet over my entire style to maintain my curls overnight. So, the last two KISS Colors & Care products I’m adding to my Walmart online cart are the Crepe Satin Reversible Hair Bonnet Cap and Satin Hair Wrap Scarf 60″ Extra Long.
