As someone whose life has been greatly impacted by stroke and heart disease, it was such an honor to join my colleagues at KISS Products and attend the Northwest Arkansas Heart Ball this past weekend at the Rogers Convention Center in Rogers, AR. For more than 50 years, Heart Balls have been raising vital funds to support the mission of the American Heart Association (AHA) to ensure our research and community efforts continue to save lives. k
Heart Ball is more than just another event—it’s a campaign meant to give supporters the opportunity to celebrate the work of the AHA, as well as become a part of the relentless force in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
About The Northwest Arkansas Heart Ball
The Northwest Arkansas Heart Ball campaign is focused on the heart of the community, celebrating their collective success in driving change, funding science, and improving health. That means taking their efforts beyond the ballroom, working every day to help every heart.
When it comes to heart disease and heart health issues, the numbers do not lie. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. Every 40 seconds someone loses their life to heart disease or stroke.
The good news is, with support from the generosity of the community and an army of volunteers, AHA is removing barriers to help scientific communities, advocating for healthy policies and more. Every dollar raised adds up to make a significant impact on the health of the community. If you would like to help the cause right now, you can DONATE HERE.
Just like my own family (my father has had two heart attacks and my husband had suffered a stroke recently, both fully recovered) heart issues affect many families, and the American Heart Association of Northwest Arkansas focused their theme of “99 Years” of working to improve heart health.
KISS Cares
Although KISS Products has been involved with the Northwest Arkansas Heart Ball for several years and has been a longtime sponsor of AHA, this year’s activation and presence at the event was quite spectacular! To help celebrate and support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission, KISS enhanced the glamorous, sold-out event with a photo booth, step and repeat, and lots of beautifying KISS goodies such as Gel Fantasy Allure Nails, Lash Drip, imPRESS Bare but Better Press-on Manicure, FALSCARA DIY Lash Extensions, KISS Colors & Care Haircare Products, and much more.
As a global leader in professional quality beauty products and treatments, with iconic brands sold in over 100 countries worldwide, KISS’ mission is to encourage an unwavering commitment to ethics, integrity, and excellence; to offer consumers cosmetics with the highest quality, efficacy, and safety; and to continue to provide cutting edge innovations that make every day more beautiful for everyone.
Some 900 Heart Ball attendees were invited to strike a pose, share on social, and score some amazing KISS Swag…and the line snaked across the venue’s lobby, as impeccably dressed Heart Ball guests waited patiently for their turn at the KISS photo booth and a chance to treat themselves to the world’s best-selling nails and lashes.
It was quite a night and the money raised at the event will go towards lifesaving research, education, and community projects.
The Heart of the Mission
The six cardiologists who founded the American Heart Association back in 1924 would be amazed. From humble beginnings, the AHA has grown into the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. A shared focus on cardiovascular health unites our more than 35 million volunteers and supporters as well as our more than 2,900 employees.
Take the Challenge
This year, AHA is asking everyone to “BE THE BEAT”, that means one in very household learns CPR. It’s such an important lifesaving skill to learn, especially when seconds make the difference between life and death. You can be ready to answer the call to help.
When seconds matter most, CPR means the difference between life and death, a fact that Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin personally understands. Unfortunately, most people who have a cardiac arrest aren’t surrounded by people trained in CPR like Hamlin was when he collapsed during a televised Monday night game in early January. That’s why Hamlin launched his #3forHeart™ CPR Challenge aimed at saving more lives through CPR education and training with the American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all.
Hamlin hopes to use his experience to educate people about importance of CPR and inspire them to learn Hands-Only CPR – a quick, easy to learn lifesaving skill.
Hamlin’s #3forHeart CPR Challenge is an exciting, yet simple social media challenge with 3 steps
- 1 – LEARN: Go to heart.org/3 to watch a 60-second video to learn Hands-Only CPR
- 2 – GIVE: Donate to the American Heart Association to fund CPR education and training, and other lifesaving programs and scientific research.
- 3 – SHARE: Use #3forHeart™ to challenge 3 friends to do the same on social media.
To kick off the campaign, Hamlin challenged NBA legend LeBron James, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
