The beautiful thing about NYC is that no matter who you are, there is an area for everyone. These areas typically include like-minded similar people which I’ve noticed also have similar styles. Based on my own personal experience and observations when being in these specific parts of New York, I styled 8 outfits that were by inspired by NYC neighborhoods. Check out the links below for easy access to the products featured above, including KISS and ImPRESS nails!
SOHO
With SoHo I think of a more light and airy color tone with metal accents (whites, creams, light brown, gold/silver) that help to create a naturalistic approach but at the same time stand out, drawing in a crowd filled with youth and liveliness. I’ve noticed that a lot of outfits are simpler but is then dressed up with either accessory such as jewelry, belts, bags etc. or the clothing itself is exaggerated with simple appliques like ruffles, lace, or a simple pattern.

Upper East Side
The well-known Upper East Side aka “Gossip Girl Land” (for any fans of the show) has that old time sophisticated feel to it. The buildings’ architecture has distinct embedded detailing giving the neighborhood character. When styling these two outfits I envisioned encapsulating class and grace. I put together both a laid-back outfit and then one that was more dressed up but had the attempt of finding pieces that overall gave off similar aesthetics.

Times Square aka Midtown
Midtown, the center of NYC, is filled with famous tourist attractions. The Empire State building, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square, etc. When thinking of outfits inspired by this section, I really wanted to include the things that NYC is famous for, but at the same time didn’t necessarily want it to feel like a typical tourist outfit (fanny pack included). This is where the cheetah print came in to give a fashionable diversion to your typical “I heart NY” tee. I also was centered around Times Square, and how fun it is at night with the bright colored screens. I figured a fun sequined going out look would summarize the feeling I was going for. Tying both outfits together are the pops of red seen in the nails and purse that represent “The Big Apple.”

West Village
The west Village offers a dense urban feel known for its historic and unique charm. There is always something to do whether its dinning at a new trendy restaurant or going to the theater you can never get bored. I was inspired by an autumn/jewel tone color pallet when styling these outfits. And found myself wanting to pick pieces that were both comfortable yet stylish could be mixed and matched and dressed up or down for multiple occasions.
