Have you ever had one of those days that surprised you in the best way? Well, that happened to me the other day. As a tall, plus-size fashion fan, I accidently assembled a chic work outfit in minutes—that resulted in a day’s worth of compliments.
Here’s how the outfit came to be. It was a groggy Wednesday morning, around 6 a.m., and I craved a cozy work outfit that didn’t require much thought. Once I got out of bed, I stared at a clean pile of laundry stacked in the corner of my bed. I then stuck my hand into the pile and pulled out a Crew Neck Long Sleeve Dress from SKIMS.
The Styling Process: A Plus-Size, Tall Fashion-Friendly Fit
Based on the dress, I decided to keep the cozy vibes going. I threw on low-to-the-ground shoes, comfy socks, and my daily accessories, and two large necklaces—for added flare. Then, voila, I had a look that felt like elevated pajamas, yet somehow garnered compliments from nearly every coworker who was in the office that day. So, I’m not going to gatekeep the details on this effortless fit.

An Easy Plus-Size Work Outfit for Instant Compliments
The two necklaces I wore were actually from my mom’s vintage jewelry shop on Etsy, GIFTSYSHOPPE. However, I’ve claimed them so they’re no longer for sale—sorry, not sorry. So, here’s another necklace that is a double-layered piece to add a little umph to your look.

To be exact, the dress I wore was the Soft Lounge version of this SKIMS dress. But, it’s now nowhere to be found on the brand’s website. So, I’ve swapped it for the Fits Everybody version. What’s the difference? Soft Lounge is a ribbed texture while Fits Everybody is smooth. Either way, this dress hugs your curves in all the right places without being too tight on the body—making it perfect for a work outfit. Plus, it’s perfect for a tall fashion fanatic like my 6’2″ self, landing just above my ankles. And, it comes in plus sizes.

As a Leo, I love all accessories that show off my zodiac sign before I even tell anyone I’m a Leo. Therefore, this lightweight necklace is a daily essential for me. The chain has adorably small, beaded accents that almost make the zodiac symbol appear to be floating in a starry sky.
This necklace is one that I wear nearly every day. Why? Because it’s lightweight, water-resistant, and features a rose guarded by two swords on the pendant—a design that speaks to my heart.

Although I’m technically an adult, I still love a pair of frilly socks. That said, my plus-size feet are a women’s size 14 or 15 shoe. So, when I saw that these socks go up to a size 13, I grabbed a pair and prayed that the stretch would work in my favor—and it did! They’re breathable, comfortable, and oh-so cute.

To frame my Eileen Ring, I wear this dainty stacker. It’s on the thinner side, yet wonderfully sits under my main ring in a way that basically makes it looks as if they’re fused together as one, to form a statement piece that’s wearable enough for long days of click-clacking on a keyboard.

Finally, we’ve made it to these shoes that mean business. Luckily, these corporate-ready shoes are incredibly comfortable. My whole foot is cradled by the sturdy-but-flexible leather. There’s a little lift in the heel so my foot doesn’t go flat. And, either side of the shoe has goring, making them incredibly comfortable to walk in. Therefore, these shoes are essential for an effortlessly chic work outfit.
