Let me tell you about a not-so-average Wednesday night. It was an evening filled with fashion, friends, and fabulous vibes. Why? Because we celebrated limited-edition, Soft Satin Wrap Scarves birthed from a collaborative collection between, textured hair care brand, KISS Colors & Care and the culture experts at the Black In Fashion Council. Every fashion-lover was in attendance, including the winning designers, KISS Colors & Care’s Karonda Cook, as well as Lindsay Peoples and Sandrine Charles—on behalf of the Black In Fashion Council.
KISS Colors & Care recently partnered with the Black In Fashion Council to host the Culture Collective Limited-Edition Crown Series Design Competition—an opportunity for emerging Black designers to create a limited-edition Soft Satin Wrap Scarf, sold exclusively at KISS Colors & Care. The brand’s Soft Satin Wrap Scarves feature 60 inches of versatile fabric that serve as the perfect canvas for limitless creativity.

During the event, it was revealed that this personal print was designed to resemble Jacques’ hair being braided, as an ode to the matriarchs in the designer’s family. “My mother is a hair braider and all of the women in my family are hair braiders,” the non-binary designer shared.
“The inspo behind my design was my love for denim,” Samaria exclaimed. The FIT alum boasted about the ways in which she incorporated all of her favorite denim details. Her design features a denim-blue, distressed print detailed with golden “stitches” and printed grommets.
