The retro 90’s rock scene vibe is having a moment. We’ve been seeing flannel shirts, smudgy eyeliner and a devotion to the art of imperfection everywhere. Much like the ground-breaking music of those times (Hello, Nirvana), these trends are not going anywhere. This why we are obsessed with the latest KISS lash collection. Their new Lash Couture Rebel Collection channels the retro cool vibes of the 90’s rock scene with their line of edgy, voluminous and shaggy lash styles. These are lashes with MAJOR attitude and are definitely not for the faint of heart. Here at Beautify, we love anything that allows us to unleash our inner wild child and this Rebel strip lash collection lets us take a fun beauty-risk.
Rebel With a Cause
The KISS brand is known for their trendy lash collections that speak to the landscape of current beauty trends. This is where the idea for the Rebel lash collection was born. I spoke to Kim Bremer, the Global Marketing Director of KISS, for the inside scoop. “The 90’s rock trend with its edgy and perfectly undone style was the inspiration for our bold new lash collection,” explains Bremer. “We used new innovations like tapered-wave technology, a faux mink effect and staggered lash patterns to create a bold interpretation of the trend that we think our lash customers are going to love.”
Headlining Styles
There are so many cool, lashes in the collection that it might be hard to narrow it down to just one style. I feel the need to make some fabulous plans and buy some concert tix just so I can rock the entire collection. Here are a few of my favorite Rebel lashes.
This style really has that cool shaggy effect and would look great with a smoky eye and a deep red lip. I would use the Lash Couture Super Strong Adhesive Glue $5.99 to apply them.
These ‘Downtown Girl’ lashes show off a cool staggered lash pattern that nails the rockstar vibe. Perfectly undone, but bold, I would sport these on a Saturday night with my leather pants, a vintage tee and definitely Doc Martens.
I look at these lashes and can literally hear “Drain You” in the background. They have attitude, angst and rebel written all over them. They also give off a bit of a glam vibe. Since this is definitely a 90’s inspired look, I would definitely pick a more modern mani to balance everything out. I can’t get enough of the colorFX collection by imPRESS and think that the chromatic aqua shade ‘Better Things’ would take my look to the next level.
