The #cleangirlaesthetic hashtag has amassed over 4 billion views on TikTok alone. However, the trend itself is nothing new. Most viral beauty trends are recycled, updated versions of past trends. Many aspects of this look have roots with Black and Latina women dating back to the 1960s, and credit should be given to those origins.
