During the holiday season, I had the perfect opportunity to test out Salon X-tend for a Christmas party. Matching my outfit with stunning nails has always been my little ritual, and Salon X-tend didn’t disappoint. The process was surprisingly straightforward. I scanned the QR code on the side of the box, which led me to clear, concise instruction video. The application was a breeze, and in no time, my nails looked salon-fabulous, perfectly complementing my party look. I applied the nails right on my kitchen table, plugged in the mini LED light into my computer, and 15 minutes later, my nails looked party perfect. And I’m not going to lie, soon as I finished curing my last nail (thumb) I kind of just stared and marvels at them for a bit, feeling so proud of myself that I did it right the first time, with no mess-ups! When I think about how much time and money this will save me…all I can say is I am absolutely obsessed!

HOW TO APPLY SALON X-TEND

Here’s a breakdown of the application process:

PREP

Clean the nail surface with nail polish remover
Push back cuticles
Lightly buff nail surface with a file *This is an important step to ensure gel adhesion and long-lasting wear*
Clean and dehydrate nail surface with the prep pad included in the kit

APPLICATION

Lay out the Salon X-tend nails
Choose the proper-sized nail tip for each finger by using the number underneath indicating the nail size
Plug in the LED lamp (with USB-C cable) which is motion-activated
Apply a dot of Gel Adhesive to the KISS numbered circle
Press nail tip onto the nail with constant, firm pressure, removing any air bubbles
Flash cure the nail for 5-7 seconds under the LED lamp, it will light up when activated
Remove your finger from the LED lamp, use the cuticle stick to remove any extra gel adhesive at this time so it does not get cured onto your skin
Place the finger under the LED lamp once again, and cure for 2 minutes
Repeat on each finger one by one until finished

Beauty Editor Tip: How to Find Your Perfect Nail Size

Struggling to find the right size for your nail extensions? Begin by comparing each nail against the sizes included in your kit. A little pro tip: if you’re wavering between two sizes, always opt for the smaller one to ensure a snug, seamless fit. You’ll find the size of each nail clearly marked in a circle on the underside. This small step is crucial for achieving that flawless, professionally manicured look at home!

Recommended Curing Time Using the LED Lamp

The flash cure time is a swift 5-7 seconds. The finish cure time varies: 1 minute for clear and light color nails, and 2 minutes for darker shades and specific designs like French and ombre.

HOW TO REMOVE SALON X-TEND

Glue OFF (sold separately) is the best and quickest way to remove the Salon X-tend nails.

Apply the Glue OFF solution along the cuticle, and wait about 1 minute
Use the chisel tip of the Glue OFF bottle to gently lift the artificial nail from the base of your natural nail bed
Glide the chisel tip under the false nail to easily pop them off
Use a nail file to buff the surface of your natural nail bed, ensuring all residue is removed (you can also use acetone)
Wash and dry your hands and you are ready for your next set!
